Head of Nairobi Office
Our connection with East Africa dates back almost a century hence our experienced, knowledgeable team truly understands sub-Saharan Africa and is committed to the continent.
Our corporate and family business clients in sub-Saharan Africa increasingly look cross border and internationally to execute their growth strategies. Such strategies often require expertise drawn from international financial centres offering fiscal and/or product and service advantages that might not be available everywhere.
Hence Minerva has a team of experienced professionals drawn from its worldwide offices specifically focused on Africa. This approach ensures the needs of our Africa connected clients are satisfied by knowledgeable people, with the right connections, operating as a cohesive team.
It also plays to our strengths as Africa is in Minerva’s DNA, our roots being in East Africa where there are family and business connections dating back to 1922. This long history and wealth of experience in providing services to clients means we have a real appetite for business connected to the continent at a time when some banks and other institutions are withdrawing from what they perceive as high risk markets.
The team is led by Sailesh Navsaria, Minerva’s Global Markets Head for Africa and a director of Minerva’s trust business in Nairobi. Sailesh was born in Uganda and has worked in Africa during his 25 years with the Minerva group. His team comprises senior personnel drawn from each of Minerva’s offices as experience tells us all the jurisdictions where we have a presence are strategically important to our Africa connected clients.
This is particularly true of our growing onshore presence in East Africa and our mature business in Mauritius which differentiates Minerva from other international trust and corporate services providers.
From our Nairobi and Mauritius offices we offer comprehensive services connecting offshore with onshore, allowing Minerva group to seamlessly service clients’ requirements both inside and outside the continent. This means that in a changing world, we have the capability to move the effective point of control of clients’ arrangements offshore/onshore so as to meet any tax or other dynamics.
Members of the Africa team share the following characteristics:
Minerva’s shareholders have affiliated businesses in East Africa specialising in investment banking advisory services, including cross border mergers and acquisitions, equity raising and debt syndication. These specialised services can also be accessed through the Minerva Africa Team.
Africa team personnel are located at Minerva’s Kenya, Mauritius, Jersey, London, Dubai and Geneva offices.
Our broad range of services helps individuals, entrepreneurs and families effectively manage personal assets and protect family wealth for current and successive generations.
These services have evolved over four decades and reflect our approach of giving clients choice in the location from which their relationship is managed.
Our private client teams in Jersey, London, Geneva, Mauritius, Nairobi, Dubai and Singapore are all experienced dedicated professionals for whom proactively delivering first class service is paramount.
The flexibility with which we deliver our comprehensive range of corporate services allows us to assist our corporate or more corporately orientated clients with full services, limited services or on a transactional basis.
The team places great emphasis on proactivity, responsiveness and technical strength in depth, working closely and in a co-ordinated manner with clients and their professional advisers.
The nature of our corporate work often involves administering structures with components in different jurisdictions, so our corporate team is drawn from across Minerva’s international offices.
We provide services designed to assist investment funds and associated parties in the creation and ongoing administration of a wide range of fund types. We have extensive experience working with investors and advisers whose strategies involve Asia, sub-Saharan Africa and the GCC.
We have strength in administering funds under the regulatory frameworks of Jersey and Mauritius although our experienced team are well qualified to provide services to fund structures and related parties in other well-regulated jurisdictions.
“The Minerva team have provided a fantastic level of service to the Group since we started working with them in 2015. As a young business we appreciate their responsiveness, professionalism and flexibility in supporting us as we grow. They are always prepared to go the extra mile and understand the nature and challenges of operating in Africa.”Co-founder, leading consumer business
